William Walline is not only an academic superstar but just as much stellar athlete on the field. William has paved the way for young athletes to shoot for the stars. Walline has been on varsity since his freshman year, has remained on varsity as a starting lineman, and has held an amazing academic track record holding a 4.0+ during the season and after. Will has shown that he is a true student-athlete.
When asked about Walline his teammate of three years, Ethan Feldkamp, said“ he’s a very hard worker and takes his job very seriously. He’s cold!” Ethan is not the only one to praise Will for his hard work, Evan Budd, Will’s teammate of three years not only for football but track and field as well, had this to say “He has a good work ethic and tries his best at everything. He’s very kind, friendly, and caring to those around him. He’s cold!”When I got the pleasure to talk to William I asked him some questions about his football career so far, his academics, and any other sports teams he is a part of.
Evanescence McLaughlin-How has it been being on varsity pretty much since you were a freshman?
Will Walline-“ being on varsity for a while now has definitely been an experience because I’ve been basically been getting beat up since freshman year by the upperclassmen, but I feel like that’s helped me develop into the player I am today.”
EM- Was it difficult being a captain as a junior?
WW-“ not as much as I thought it would be but definitely more responsibility than if i wasn’t”
EM- Were you surprised when you were announced as a captain?
WW_“ very yes. it’s not very typical for anyone but seniors to be captains
EM- Were you happy to be captain?
WW- “very I was very happy.”
EM- how have your grades/ GPA held up during your vigorous football season?
WW- “ I’ve been able to maintain a 4.0+. Right now it’s a 4.3, it has gone back and forth from a 4.2 and 4.3”
EM- Are you a part of any other long-term sports?
WW-“ I’m trying out for basketed ball so if I make the team I will be playing basketball and Track and Feild since freshman year.”
Walline’s coach, Jesse Hoskins, also had good things to say about the young superstar! “ I was not surprised to see that his peers voted him as captain. It’s not often that nonseniors are voted captain I’ve only seen it a few times but Will was definitely fit for the job.” Hoskins also let me know that Will is an exceptional leader and a harder worker who doesn’t give up when things get rough. Whether it is on the field or in the classroom, William Walline has made a name for himself. Strong, hard-working, caring, smart, and most of all cold!
