Milan High School Football Overcoming Adversities

Updated: Sep 30, 2021

In Milan's 2021 football season, they have had to overcome many obstacles. From players being injured to other players having to play positions, they have never played before. Even before the season started, 2-way starter Connor Desselier was injured and has been out for the whole season causing players like Evan Budd and Ethan Feldkamp to step up.

Milan's game against Huron took out many of Milan's best players like Micheal Mawer and injured others like Jett Isaacs taking him out for parts of the game. According to Cole Mcalvany Senior Captain and Quarterback, “ I think that we are a very strong team and that we are not to be taken lightly. I think that as long as players step up and are accountable we will be fine.” To solve these problems players are having to play positions that they don't usually play, for example, Elija Cartright has to move to the defensive line and Kiemario Jackson to kick returner in lieu of Ronnie Johnson dislocating his shoulder. Milan is a 3-1 team doing well for how many players they have that are injured or just banged up. Milan players will have to keep pushing each other to be better with players that are new to positions or don't regularly play. A result of the problem is pulling up players like Gavin Mick, and Riddle to varsity from junior varsity. This can also help the two Jv players to get first-hand experience on varsity football. Milan football has had a hard year, from starting against hard opponents like Michigan Collegiate and New Boston Huron to injured players and having to move players to new positions, but overall Milan has overcome its adversities and has become a strong and mature football team that is a force to be reckoned with.
