New Big Reds head basketball coach Nate Edwards plans on bringing the team to victory. Coach Edwards will be entering his first year coaching the Milan Big Reds varsity basketball team. Seeming to be very excited and hoping for a long career with the Big Reds, coach is ready to get to work with the team. In a previous interview with the Monroe News Coach Edwards stated “I believe this is the perfect situation for me at the perfect situation and time”.
Coach Edwards is a Lincoln High School alum and actually played against the Big Reds going through school. He also spent twelve years in the United States military, serving in the army. Coach Edwards also has nine children including seven girls and two boys. Other than coaching he earns money with his catering business Veteran’s Catering. Edwards has lots of coaching experience serving as a assistant at Ypsi Arbor Prep for the last six years and also trains athletes from around the region. After receiving the job Coach Edwards wanted to get in the gym working with his guys as soon as possible!
The Big Reds are returning many players including seniors Jett Isaacs, Evan Morelock, Ethan Budd, and Cole McElvany. Returning juniors include Connor Desselier, William Walline and Tyler Denham. The Big Reds are looking to bounce back from a rough two and ten record last year. As of right now fans are still required to wear masks to the games but that does not mean the fans will not show out to help the Big Reds defend “The Pit”. In other great news for the Big Reds basketball program there will be a boys freshman team under the leadership of coach Bob Denham who also helps coach on the tennis team.
