The One Running The Court

With a military background, Nate Edwards is the new coach of Milan Boys Basketball team. Edwards has already set up many expectations for his team this season. With Chris Pope being a very familiar name when it came to the Milan High School community; Everyone wonders how this season will play out. Coaching on and off since 1991, Pope stepped down from coaching the class of 22’s last season. With his experience coaching at Arbor Prep Edwards brings a lot to the table for the Milan community.

With multiple returning players this team is already filled with team chemistry. Returning player, senior Evan Morelock said, “I believe the connection between the players is great and there is a lot of returning talent making it easier to be able to click with the newcomers of our team.”

With focus on discipline and team moto: - Work Big. Dream Big. Win Big. - the boys on the team already have great faith in Edwards. Since Covid-19 has taken a toll on the school's season, nobody knew what was going to happen within the next season. Edwards seems to have a plan. Connor Desselier, junior said, “The coach is great. I really like him. I believe he invests a lot of time in us and has faith in making our season the best we’ve had.”

More and more of the boys on the team believe this season will be better than prior seasons. Not only is Coach Edwards determined to make this team great; he is brought up to make very good connections with the people on his team. 2 year varsity basketball athlete, senior Ethan Budd said, “I believe Coach Nate will bring our season to the next level. He is very personal and serious with us. He is very determined to make our team good.”

Edwards is set on making this season. The team has 20 games already set in the season. Last season the boys had a season of 11 games: 2 wins, 9 loses. With every good team there are struggles. Will Walline, junior said, “ We play a lot of talented teams this year. I think this might be a struggle but it will definitely help us come playoff time.” Be sure to support the Milan Basketball team at their first game December 10th, away @Adrian.
